For the Highland Scots, twists of fate were prefigured in the patterns left at the bottom of one's empty teacup.Reading Tea Leavesis the oldest book on the subject in English. Our guide is an unnamed Highland Seer, who reveals the general principles and practices of tea-leaf reading and provides an alphabetical list of the natural symbols commonly found in a cup and their significance.
Serious students of rhe occult will enjoy dipping into this rare and authentic treasure-trove of knowledge. It is a faithful reprint of what may be the first book of its kind, originally entitled "Tea-Cup Reading and the Art of Fortune-Telling by Tea- Leaves" by a Highland Seer. I felt it most appropriate that this reprint hails from the UK, since this was the homeland of the original anonymous author. I was fortunate enough to have held an original copy in my own hands before it was (sadly) discarded and/or sold by my local library. So I can honestly testify as to its true replication of the original, of which I have retained photocopies. Read this book, not only for the valuable knowledge handed down from seer to seer and back to our more mystical past, but also for its intelligently written and informative introduction. In the intro, James Norwood Pratt gives a history of divination told from the view point of one who has intimate involvement and experience with divination and the occult. Also, he includes valuable tips for reading the tea leaves. The Afterword by John Harney tells of the experience of the two men who had decided to reprint the book and of their love and respect for the original, in which I have shared firsthand.
