Neal McBride has really given us a great resource for the rank and file small group leader corps. This book covers a lot of ground in few pages. It takes the issues and problems to be faced by a small group through its entire life cycle and does so in only 150 pages. This book is written in an easy to read style and is primarily meant for those who may already have done some small group leadership. McBride does a good job of showing the uniqueness of each small group while primarily displaying what characteristics are common to each small group. After reading this book it should be evident to your small group leaders that there is probably nothing that they might experience in a small group that is uncommon with other small groups and that there are people that have experienced and understand their problems. McBride does not stop there and does an admirable job in giving suggestions on how to avoid pitfalls and how to correct problems which might be experienced by the small group. I think this is a must have book for the small group leader who sees small group ministry as a life calling.
