Excellent introduction to "The Indian Way"

In case you have a youngster in your surroundings that is yearning to learn more about Native Americans after seeing them in a movie, not an unlikely situation for many, this is the book to buy. It starts out with a wonderful story by Vinson Brown about a young Indian boy from the city who is initiated into the ways of his people by his grandmother. The next chapter is "The Laws of The Lodge" by Dakota chief Wabasha, these contain rules of respect and right conduct. The next chapter is a short version of the famous speech of Chief Seattle, which is now historically debated (it probably flowed from the pen of a white journalist). The book concludes with a moving prayer by Tom Whitecloud. This book is wonderfully illustrated and will be an ideal gift for children from the age of nine upwards.
