Irving Jensen Study Guides do an excellent job of guiding the student into a structured analysis of the book being studied. The point of the guide is to provide guidance and organization to study so that the student can come to their own interpretation and understanding of the Scripture, not to provide the author's interpretation to the student. An added benefit of using the study guide is the development of analytical skills that are transferable to any venue calling for the analysis and interpretation of complex written material. This is especially important in a society where the emphasis in education appears to be teaching "what" to think as opposed to "how" to think.
