Richard Scarry and his beloved characters Pig Will and Pig Won't introduce toddlers to the important concept of manners. From helping around the house to playing nicely with friends, the lessons in... This description may be from another edition of this product.
I remember this book vividly from my childhood (I'm 33) - it's a terrific story about manners and behavior with great pictures. The story really sticks with you -- I still recall how Pig Won't became Pig Me Too... I would take the "dated" criticism with some salt as this is really a very enjoyable story for kids and parents alike to read.

My parents read me this book when I was little (I'm 22). I really liked it and my mother made little references to pig will and pig won't when my brother and I misbehaved (or behaved). I don't think any of the pictures in the book were inappropriate. I mean it's entirely up to the individual whether they spank their children or not, but I can't see any harm in children knowing that some people did and do spank their children.
It's nice to be nice.

This is a good book for children of all ages. I bought this book sixteen or seventeen years ago and really enjoyed reading it to my son as well as my friends and family. It is about being positive and cooperative, the very premise of good manners. The characters are funny and the lessons valuable. The point of the lessons make perfect sense and once learned by a child, carry him or her through life with a smile. Grumpy, negative adults need to read this more than children.

Wonderful book contrasting the behaviors of two "boys". The parents even have rules which are actually enforced! Imagine that, a book that in today's world shows parents with a backbone and who love their kids enough to say "no"!! All this with Richard Scarry's wonderful illustrations. We bought extra copies to give to friends with young ones. Our boys love it as we read it to them. A wonderful way to reinforce the long-forgotten idea of "responsibility" in our children.
Delightful and creative to be read over and over and over...

This is one of the most creative ways to address the stubborness in children and all of us. The adorable Pig Will and Pig Won't relates how having everything OUR way is not always the BEST way! Perfect object lesson for little minds! And entertaining for parents who need an innovative way to communicate the importance of obedience to youngsters!!
