This is a concise introduction to the ministry of Cardinal Richelieu. While it has some small factual errors (such as dates of events) I recommend it highly to anyone starting to read about the period (note: you can't do better than Lloyd Moote's "Louis XIII, the Just" for works in English on Richelieu's King). It is also an engaging read for anyone with an established knowledge of the time, as C.V. Wedgwood has a good writing style, dry and pithy.
