After Bourne is ambushed and nearly killed while in Indonesia, he fakes his death to take on a new identity and mission- to find out who is trying to assassinate him. In the process, Bourne begins to question who he really is and what he would become if he no longer carried the Bourne identity. Across the globe, an American passenger airliner is shot down over Egypt-apparently by an Iranian missile-leaving the world wondering if it was an accident or an act of aggression. A massive global team lead by Soraya Moore is assembled to investigate the attack before the situation escalates. When Bourne's search for his would-be assassin intersects with Soraya's search for the group behind the airplane bombing, Bourne is thrust into a race to prevent a new world war. But it may already be too late.
Lustbader does an excellent job of continueing the style of Robert Ludlum with this 4th in the Bourne series. It is well plotted and keeps the readers interest throughout. I love the vulnerability of the Bourne character to go along with his macho persona.
Not bad at all!

I listened to this book on audiodotapes and have to disagree with such the negative reviews. I agree that this book is a bit different from Robert Ludlum's originals, but so are the times. I can't beleive that people find it hard to follow the plot. It's fast paced and generally delightful. I would certainly recommend this book for entertaining reading. The end leaves doors wide open for the next sequel. I'll definitely buy it.
A 'whodunnit' that just won't quit

Eric Van Lustbader brings Robert Ludlum's Bourne scenario to life in a new Jason Bourne novel with a gripping narration by Jeremy Davidson. When Jason Bourne is ambushed and nearly killed on Bali, he takes his own death and sets out to find his would-be assassin. Add international intrigue and you have a 'whodunnit' that just won't quit.
Robert Ludlum's The Bourne Deception

Another great Bourne book. It's been years since I did not wait for a new book to come out in paperback before purchasing it. I'm a huge Bourne (book and movie) fan, so ordered this as soon as it was available. As with the other Bourne books, I could hardly put it down. Fantastic story.
Great read, action and suspense galore !

I have read all of Van Lustbader's Bourne novels and I have to say none of them have disappointed. The Author in my opinion has accurately portrayed the Bourne character much as Ludlum did. the Bourne Deceptiom picks up where the Bourne Sanction left off so anyone who has followed the prior books will feel right at home. The Author continues a storyline that is both suspenseful and action packed. I cannot wait until the next Bourne novel is published !
