This exciting and highly recommended new work (Los Angeles Herald Examiner) reviews musicians and bands who have had an impact on rock music. More than 750 entries reveal what happened and when.
I personally think this is the best Rock encyclopedia I have ever seen. Many, many interesting facts and tid-bits and I haven't come across many errors, unlike some other so-called "encyclopedias" (Henry Rollins is the singer for Janes' Addiction?!?!?!?!? COME ON Harmony...are you really THAT clueless?). MUCH more factual info than ANY other encyclopedia I have ever seen (Emerson, Lake and Palmer almost included Jimi Hendrix except for a flat tire?!?! 1988 Presidential hopeful Gary Hart and Donna Rice were introduced by Don Henley of the Eagles?!?!), arranged chronologically. Weeks and weeks of fascinating reading await a new buyer!! But I will say this....if you want lots of pictures, look elsewhere, there are very few in this mostly text reference book. In fact my ONLY complaint is that it was last updated and released in 1992!!! Now I'm gonna have to try to upload a picture so folks can see the great cover!!

This excellent book HAS been revised, but it is now called "VH1 Rock Stars Encyclopedia". It is a 1999 edition written by the same authors of Billboard's "Rock Movers & Shakers", Dafydd Rees and Luke Crampton. ............ Get it!
