Roller Coasters captures all the excitement and energy surrounding America's favorite amusement park ride. Here with a thoroughly researched text are 200 rare and wonderful photographs and other... This description may be from another edition of this product.
I took a chance on this purchase because the author, Scott Rutherford, was the same one that wrote "The American Roller Coaster," which I had checked out of my library and had been enjoying immensely. When the book arrived, I was thrilled beyond measure to discover that it was the same exact book, but in paperback and published by another publisher. I still had "The American Roller Coaster" at home, so I compared the two. Everything is exactly the same in this book but at a bargain price. I haven't even read all of the text yet, but there are a lot of great pictures of prominent roller coasters as well as chapters chronicling the history of coasters (with chapters for each significant era) and the building of coasters. Ample space is given for both wooden coasters and steel. My favorite part of the book is the fact that he does feature articles on some of the more important roller coasters in history. I have seen many similar books to this one and have enjoyed them as well, but none as much. I highly recommend this book for anybody interested in the subject.
