My 7 year old loves the fairy books and this is one of her favorites. A well written exciting book that kept her reading way past her bedtime.

"Rosetta's Daring Day" Written by Lisa Papademetriou Illustrated by Judith Holmes Clarke, Adrienne Brown & Charles Pickens (Disney/Random House, 2009) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Two Pixie Hollow fairies, one a sporty tomboy and the other a total Miss Priss make-up queen, spend the week together and learn to appreciate each other's strengths. Rosetta, the girly-girl learns the most: in addition to being vain, she is also self-absorbed, and doesn't help out with communal projects as much as she should -- by the book's end, she starts thinking more about others, although neither character is called on to completely change who they are or the way they see the world. As with all the Pixie Hollow books, this promotes both individual self-worth and social interdependence, and while it's not exactly "great literature", it is involving enough, and not too scary for younger readers (if that's a concern). Pretty femme, but worth checking out. (Joe Sixpack, ReadThatAgain children's media reviews)
