At the annual Almost Authentic Elizabethan Spring Faire in Empty Creek, Arizona, wanton wenches cavort with lusty cavaliers . . . until the unlucky lady playing the part of Queen Elizabeth I is brutally assassinated. The crown passes to Penelope Warren, and she and Big Mike--the Rambo of cats--spring into action, charged with a double mission: rule the revels and find the clever killer.
I really enjoy this series. It is a fun, relaxing, read. I just wish there were more books in the series.
Big Mike rules in this one!

My favorite Big Mike and Penelope Warren mystery. As Penelope, Big Mike's mistress and honorary member of Empty Creek's police force, is crowned Elizabeth Regina after the death of the first Elizabeth, the detecting, loving and hilarity begins. Penelope is stumped on this case but after the second murder she begins to put the pieces in place; Marlowe who hates Shakespeare, secret notes taped to her door and then Big Mike's discovery of the poison! Got it? Well, if you don't, read it; it's a light joyeous romp and loaded with laughs, and oh yeh, with some mystery tucked in!
Good plot but female lead written from male point of view

Good Plot. Good Story. Keeps you reading. However, there is a lot of sex talk in which the characters keep on and on and on about certain female parts of the body. The main person in the stories ( first book and this one) is a female. If there is to be constant chatter about sex parts is should be about male sex parts. Since I have not yet read the rest of the series I do not know if this will continue. The cat is great but again keeps on making kittens in a world where there are too many being born for the demand. Anyone who has had to find homes for them knows this. The story keeps moving along and holds your interest but after a while the sex chatter can get a little boring and you want to move on to more story. If author must keep up this line at least let it be about the male body parts as fits the female tone of the book .
