This admirable and warm hearted individual is unabashedly intelligent, tenacious and driven. He is “Superman” who through school carried heavy Braille books and acknowledged everyone with a smile. Never complaining and always absorbing life like a sponge. He didn’t get a guide dog as a young child but when the opportunity arose he along with others trained his guide dog to be both his shadow and his light. Both of his dogs were uncanny in their allegiance and protectiveness. The story of the World Trade Center escape left me questing for the next page- the next chapter! Cloaked in smoke and unable to see- every downward step was made in the company and grace of other escapees and his unfailing four footed protector. I drew a deep breath of fresh air when they finally “hit bottom”. There are so many incidents throughout this book that will leave you reeling with laughter or dropping your jaw in amazement. You just won’t want to put it down. Enjoy your read as I have- several times over.
