The battle to decide the fate of Meiji-era swordsmanship has begun Action, romance, and historical intrigue help make Nobuhiro Watsuki's Rurouni Kenshin, the tale of a wandering swordsman set against the backdrop of the Meiji Restoration, one of the most popular Shonen Jump titles among fans to date. Himura Kenshin, once an assassin (or hitokiri ) of ferocious power, now fights to protect the honor of those in need. The madness of Shishio Makoto may know no bounds, but what of his body? An eleventh-hour revelation suggests a possible weakness, but will the news come in time to help a critically wounded Kenshin, whose own strength is reaching its limit? In this new era of Meiji, it's getting harder and harder to tell the innocents from the outlaws. Perhaps, as Kenshin says, it should be for history to decide which side was right, and which side was wrong. The time for hitokiri such as Kenshin and Shishio has passed; let not the man decide the age...but the age, the man.
Remind me of the first time wathching this series' anime 7 years ago... A very touching and exciting story.

In Rurouni Kenshin Vol. 17 the Shishio Arc concludes. The final battle between Shishio Makato and Himura Kenshin is epic, and action packed thoughout. Each side seems victorius at different points and the reader encounters plot twist after plot twist. Watsuki ends the volume in a way that compleatly answers all questions the Shishio arc has left. I hope the final story arc (Jinchu(revenge)/Eneshi) is equally good.
Great as always

Lately, I've been quickly flipping through the books, as a lot of them were fights that were very very long. This book, however, begins to wrap up the current arc, and isn't as fightfightfight! as some of the others, which is why I really liked this one. I've got one question however, and maybe I'm just being stupid or something, but... Isn't Kawatari(spelling)/"Scythe Man" a guy that looks like a girl? Because he/she flashed Misao back a couple books ago, and it definately sounded like Kawatari was a guy. In this book though, Cho talks about him/her like Kawatari's a girl. He says that "She needs..." and the whatnot. Maybe he just doesn't know or something, but from Misao's attitude, it seems like she would say something about scythe MAN rather than the other gender.
