A spine-tingling debut about the ultimate game of cat-and-mouse in reverse as a teen struggles to retain hope--and her sanity--while on the run from a cunning and determined killer. Ruth Carver has always competed like her life depends on it. Ambitious. Tough. Maybe even mean. It's no wonder people call her Ruthless. When she wakes up with a concussion in the bed of a moving pickup trick, she realizes she has been entered into a contest she can't afford to lose. At a remote, rotting cabin deep in the Blue Ridge Mountains, Ruth's blindfold comes off and she comes face-to-face with her captor. A man who believes his mission is to punish bad girls like Ruth. A man who has done this six times before. The other girls were never heard from again, but Ruth won't go down easy. She escapes into the wilderness, but her hunter is close at her heels. That's when the real battle begins. That's when Ruth must decide just how far she'll go in order to survive. Back home, they called her Ruthless. They had no idea just how right they were.

Ultimately, this book was hard to put down, at least, toward the end. Now . . . the heroine was not at all likeable for the majority of the book which makes it hard to keep reading. The constant flashbacks to 5 years ago or 10 years ago, etc., were sometimes hard to take, but they did give us some background into Ruth . . .not so much into "Wolfman". In my opinion, the story really didn't get good until the last 1/3 of the book and then it was hard to put down. And, I think towards the end, Ruth realized she wanted to change in a lot of ways. I ended up really liking the book except the end was really abrupt and didn't tell us much at all. So, I guess I would recommend Ruthless for the action towards the end, and overall it ended up being a good story. If my understanding is correct, this set out to be a YA book, but I personally feel the topic is a little advanced for younger audiences.
Thrilling!

This was a fantastic book! Ruth is one of those girls I would be terrified of in real life. She strong, confident & knows she’s the best. She refuses to give up & let herself get hurt easily. She’s resourceful & intelligent. I honestly wished the book were longer & we got to see a little bit more past where it ended but it was a great read!
