A great deal has been written about the Pilgrims, perhaps more than any other small group in American history. Yet they continue to be extravagantly praised for accomplishing what they never attempted... This description may be from another edition of this product.
As the author himself stated, no one can tell the Pilgrim story as well as the actors themselves... and that's what Willison did so very well. So, who cares that it's not jazzed up 90's writing or Fictional Literature. Such lazy readership misses the whole point. As a reader years ago, the book I bought at a sale took me back to the time and place in my own imagination. It was a keeper for my library. It would be years later before I discovered my own Mayflower ancestors. Then Willison's work really brought home the 'personhood' of otherwise mere names on a family tree and introduced me to the background and character of a number of my ancestors. Priceless information I could not have found elsewhere. Thank you George Willison for what must have been a true labor of love.
Invaluable to me and my descendants

I have ancestors in this group of Mayflower passengers. What a gift this author had compiled in historical ,religious, and family information.
An excellent history of the original Pilgrims.

As a direct decendent of one of the original Pilgrims, I found a great deal of information in this book that was unavailable elsewhere. While the writing style may not rival Hemmingway, the book is full of historical facts, which is what I was looking for. Many historical events which were important to my research were covered in great detail. Books such as this describing the early days of the Pilgrims are few and far between, and I was very happy to find this one.
