In the opening lines of Santa Steps Out: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups, we learn that God the Father had to "cut His vacation short" and is in a "towering rage" about it. It appears that while the... This description may be from another edition of this product.
It’s definitely an interesting book and one I would have finished if not for early on kids being involved in consuming adult bodily fluid and Adults getting into it heavy on a bed with a sleeping kid in it. I bought as a gag gift to read aloud at our Rugby Christmas party. It’s all fun an games and a hoot till they involved the kids. I’m not easily offended or upset but this was too much for me. Especially for a fun erotic novel that started off absurd (in a fun way) enough. I’m not saying don’t buy or read , I’m simply adding a warning I wish I had got before buying.
I loved this book

I loved this book with all its sick and twisted ways. I will never look at the Easter Bunny, Santa, Mrs Claus or the Tooth Fairy the same way. I have given this book as a Christmas gift and now own the signed hardcover.
Bizarre! Perverse! Twisted! I loved it!

This is a Christmas book unlike any that have come before it, I'm sure. It's part erotica, part comedy, part horror/fantasy and easily the most original novel I've read in quite a while, as well as an interesting look at modern myths and their pagan roots. If the idea of Santa Claus having a lusty affair with the Tooth Fairy shocks or offends you, don't read this book because that's only the beginning, and you surely won't want to be around for all the things that happen afterward. But if you're open-minded and have a healthy, irreverent sense of humor and an appreciation for the absurd, I can't recommend this book highly enough. I'm going to have to read Mr. Devereaux's other books, because he is a wonderful storyteller!
A Bawdy Enjoyable Romp -- Not for those easily offended

I had no idea when I started reading this what I was letting myself in for. The forward does not come close to preparing you for this bawdy, enjoyable journey through the tales of childhood. The mythological aspect is an intriguing start to the book, which quickly descends into an erotic wonderland where Santa is seduced by the Tooth Fairy (even Saints have their weaknesses), an affair that finally comes to a head 20 years later, when Santa confesses to Mrs. Claus that his Yule log has been burning in somebody else's fireplace. It's a page turner from page one. I would recommend this for anybody who wants something unique to add to their bookshelves, but if you are easily offended or lack a sense of humour, this should be one book you should skip.
The holidays will never be the same for me

I ordered Santa Steps Out last month. Even though it says 6-8 weeks up there, I got mine in about a week. And it was everything I hoped for: nasty, fun, wild, and wicked. I plan on reading this one every year--along with Dickens! Nice job, Mr. Devereaux! You've created a classic.
Have yourself a merry little Christmas.

I have never - and I mean never - read a book quite like this. Robert Devereaux has taken the mythical figures of our childhood and recast them as the pagan hedonistic gods they were. Santa begins a torrid affair with the Tooth Fairy. The Easter Bunny is a Peeping Tom. Mrs. Claus plots her revenge. This is the filthiest, funniest most original book I've read in years. It comes in a beautiful signed edition limited to 1000 copies. Get it while you can. This is cutting edge fiction at its best.
