This playful picture book answers the age-old question: Just how does Santa shimmy up and down chimneys? Not very easily sometimes! When the rotund fellow with a sweet tooth overdoes it on the snacks, he gets stuck inside a chimney. The reindeer on the roof try pulling him out, to no avail. A dog, a cat, and some kittens try pushing from below, with no luck. It takes a tiny, ingenious mouse to come up with the way to POP! Santa out so that Christmas can go on. Good show--ho, ho, ho!
We bought this at a book fair at my sons school in October and have been reading it ever since (it's February!) It's adorable & funny and my son loves to yell out the "Puuuull, puuush ... whooooosh! Santa's out!" every time. Very sweet illustrations as well. A winner.

I read my neices and nephews many many childrens' books during the Christmas season and this is by far their favorite one. MY 5-year-old neice laughs and laughs when the mice are pushing Santa up through the chimney. the first time I read this book to her, she had me read it back-to-back three times! The illustrations are great, with lots of detail. I highly recommend adding this book to your Christmas collection. (I also like Mr. Willowby's Christmas tree, The Little Tree and A Wish to be a Christmas Tree.) Enjoy.

What a fun book for the holidays! This is a terrific read-aloud, with great rhythm and rhyme. I have already used it in storytimes with large groups of little ones, and you can hear a pin drop when I read it - the sign of a sure-fire hit with kids. I totally disagree with the "grinch-ish" review that says the book falls flat. I read picture books all the time (it's my job!) and both text and art in this one are exceptionally well done - a real kid-pleaser. Whether for laptime or storytime, I highly suggest this one. It's a winner!
