I bought this book for my two-year-old neice, Ivy, because I liked the paintings (especially the one of Santa at the bowling alley). The poems were, I thought, a bit long for her, but I figured she'd like the pictures. You cannot imagine my surprise and delight when Ivy started memorizing these poems! Whoda thunk it? My sister said that Ivy loves Santa and wanted to read the book every night. Over the next few months, she learned every poem in the book! I have a theory that the funny stories, nice rhyme, and good meter stuck in her brain more than other prose stories did.I highly recommend this book!
