Emmanuel Gilbert is a fairly prolific French cartoonist and is gaining more English reprints recently including Alan's War, a biography of his World War II veteran American friend, Alan Cope. Sardine in Outer Space , written and drawn by Gilbert, is a collection of 10-page stories about Sardine, Captain Yellow Shoulder, and Little Louie as they explore the universe, fix the Rings of Saturn and thwart the evil intentions of Doc Krok and Supermuscleman. The art and stories are fun and colorful, and even though this is the sixth collection, it is easy to jump right into the story. Or, you can go find the previous five books and enjoy Sardine's adventures five times as much.
