Save Our Souls: A Situation Comedy

Keith Matthews was a vastly talented actor, musician, theatre director, performed playwright and charity bookshop manager. He performed in many plays and his artistic career lasted over forty five years. As well as being an expert on the UK radio game show Just a Minute (on which he contributed to two published books) he also found time to write a large number of plays, sitcom episodes, poems, short stories and novel length works. 'Save Our Souls' (or SOS) is the first of a collection of sit-com screenplays that show his talent, his outrageous sense of humour, and his ability to create huge and deep characters. He picks you up when you are down and makes you think throughout. In this edition of Save Our Souls Volume two we have the second three episodes of what is the first series. In total there will be three series of six episodes, plus special episodes. Included in this edition are: the episodes: 'Dogs of World III', 'Roses Turn' and Woman of the Year.' Father Ballsworthy: "....I spent six wonderful years there as a missionary spreading God's kindness to the troubled souls there.... And the many stories of that area: they're all true. (Laughs) Very giving people they are. So trusting. They really opened up to me.... Yes indeed There were a lovely group of beggar lads who helped me erect a little chapel. We made it out of old timber.... Yes. Lovely construction. Never had a days' training in their lives. Of course it kept falling down in the monsoon season but these lads were always there.... Helping me to get it up again. Devoted to the cause...."
