She Was The Perfect Wife and Mother Pretty, blonde former cheerleader Sara Tokars seemed to have it all: six sisters who considered her the center of their loving family; a home in an affluent Atlanta suburb; an ambitious husband who was a lawyer and part-time judge and well-connected politically; two beautiful sons who adored her. She Wouldn't Be the Perfect Victim But Sara's life was built on an illusion. For Fred Tokars was an adulterer and a neglectful father whose real business was turning illegal drug fortunes into-all American dollars using star-studded Atlanta nightclubs and off-shore accounts. No one but Sara knew the ugly truth. But before she could expose him, Fred had Sara gruesomely murdered. Fred thought it would be the prefect crime. But Sara had taken precautions. She'd already made sure all of Fred's secrets would follow him like an avenging angel. Secrets Never Lie is the story of one woman's struggle to escape her husbands malice; of her sisters' persistent cries for justice; of a city's well-hidden but no less seamy underbelly; of a lawyer whose lifetime of lies and cruelty finally catch up to him. Stretching from that fateful day Sara first came under Fred Tokars' spell to the titanic courtroom battle among the legal giants of the South over whether justice would be served and whether Fred would live or be condemned to die, Secrets Never Lie is the heart-stopping true story of the case that kept Atlanta riveted for years and that will keep every reader mesmerized until the last page turns.
I couldn't put it down. I had a hard time deciding who I disliked more...Fred Tokars (who looks like a stork) or his arrogantly sexist attorney, Jerry Froelich (he never married? Wonder WHY!). Also, I was SO sick and tired of excuses being made for the gun man, crack addict Curtis Rower....poverty, ad nauseam. (Addiction is a choice and he chose to do drugs! ) Where are these defense attorneys' consciences? I truly believe that some of them would defend Hitler if he could come up with the retainer .I felt sorry for Sara, but she jumped into a second marriage WAY too fast. There had to be SOME way she could have left abusive, controlling Fred Tokars. There had to be some divorce attorneys around who didn't want $2,500 up front and charge $175 per hour. Why didn't she ask her family for the money? And Sara's family....the Ambruskos all need counseling desperately. They have let Fred Tokars win because they have allowed him to destroy their lives as well as those of Sara's sons, Rickey and Mike. NO woman SHOULD stay in that kind of abusive relationship. There are too many other places to go in this day and age...too many resources.

People wonder how this happened. I can tell you it is a corrupt judical system in Georgia. Corrupt lawyers and judges stick together and it is an epidmic here in Georgia. I know I live here and it runs high and deep. And the sad thing is it is still alive and well.
Very well researched and written

A friend of Sara

I was a personal friend of Sara in fact I was one of the twopeople who witnessed sara's will. Sara was a loving mother who woulddo anything to protect her children. Her reasons for staying with Fred were her children Rick and Mike. Dont be angry at Sara for staying when you read this book, just know that she died a senseless death and let her story touch your heart. If you are in a bad situation then you will know the need to remove yourself from it. My heart is heavy when i think about the death of my beloved friend.
excellent!

I really enjoyed this book. My heart really goes out to Sara's family, especially her sons who had to watch her die. I thought the book was very fair to both sides, and did show, that although the defendant was finally convicted, the criminal justice system does not always work well.
