Famous frontiersmen, such as Daniel Boone, helped found communities, which were often under siege by Indians, seeking to reclaim their traditional hunting lands. Finally after the Revolutionary War and disputes over ownership of the land, Kentucky became the fifteenth state in the union in 1792.
