Serenity's Desire, the first book in the new Serenity Inn Series, is the touching story of an aristocratic, rebellious young woman named Serenity, who is greatly troubled by her mother's tragic death and her father's sudden courtship. A beautiful, but spoiled heiress, Serenity is courted by a fiery young abolitionist, Caleb Cunard, and their love for each other blossoms in the turmoil of her family life and amidst the tumultuous years prior to the Civil War. Romantic, adventurous, and spiritually riveting, this is the story of one strong-willed, questing woman who must come to terms with the injustices of the world and depend on God's comfort to finally achieve serenity in herself.

Serenity's Desire is a good book about 17 year old Serenity Pownell and her struggle to cope with her mother's death, her father's new affections for a beautiful widow, her feelings for her long-time neighbor, and the turbulent issues of slavery and abolition in the years before the Civil War. This is a good book that is a little slow to start, but will have you laughing and crying and struggling to put it down!
