Sex, Death & Diane is the story of Sara and Diane, two young best friends growing up in a small town who share many crazy experiences. Everything changes in their lives when they graduate high school and take completely different paths. Set in the early 80's at the time of great political turmoil and a massive public health crisis they navigate their new world. This revolutionary period broke down barriers and opened the doors for forces of good and evil at the same time and changed them forever. Sex, Death & Diane is a wild and cautionary tale of love, hate, war and redemption that challenges the reader. The unique climax in the book parallels today's current affairs and will ignite many thought-provoking discussions.
A very well done account of young people grappling with serious national problems and current events---and becoming involved in identifying the problems and ways to deal with them. These are young collegians adjusting to life in new schools, to life in a changing nation. And the main character--to a serious disease. The characters are convincing and likable, at times even funny. I read the book with pleasure from the beginning to end. I'd recommend it both to adults and young people without reservation. It moves briskly, is not "preachy", but does supply the reader with examples of dedicated and zealous characters from whom much can be learned.
