Rather affectionate but nevertheless salacious history of royals
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 18 years ago
You can't help but be a bit nosey about other people's lives, before there were celebrities famous for nothing there were royals. Their salacious lives and desires, while not necessarily as public, were generally well known. Nigel Cawthorne has written quite an affectionate history of the Royal predelictions and desires. It is occassionally judgemental, but mostly it is Cawthorne enjoys the topic and his subjects. Of Edward VII and Daisy for instance, he writes not only of their affair but of the aftermath when, as good friends, they continued corresponding. You may not come away from this book with a greater understanding of history, but perhaps some salient lessons in human frailty and egoism.
Great Book

This book is very interesting reading for people who like Brittish Royalty. Very shocking things, like Charles II and his many mistresses. Overall a very good book, though there are a few mistakes in it.
