You may think you've heard everything about the modeling industry from Tyra Banks, but Sex, Love, and Fashion is the real behind-the-scenes scoop, from a true insider who is considered one of the top ten male models of all time. In the glamorous galaxy of modeling, Bruce Hulse was a supernova. Taken under the wing of famed photographer Bruce Weber as a fledgling model, Hulse went on to collaborate with the industry's biggest names as one of the world's top male models. In the 1980s and 1990s, the exciting world of top models was filled with sex, drugs, and countless other indulgences. Bruce Hulse is one of the most recognizable figures of that time; from his iconic Calvin Klein and Levi's ads to his appearance on the cover of GQ, his face defined an era. In Sex, Love, and Fashion , Bruce shares the true stories of his globe-trotting career working with some of the industry's biggest namesCalvin Klein, Janice Dickinson, Herb Ritts, Elle Macpherson, Andie MacDowell, Paulina Porizkova, and Cindy Crawford among themand also details the exhilarating successes and painful failures he experienced on his way to the top. Bruce Hulse pulls back the curtain on the life of an international supermodel and reveals everything the cameras don't expose. Sex, Love, and Fashion is a dishy, sexy, and honest look at what really happens to beautiful people playing in the often decadent fields of fashion glory.
As an author who also wrote a memoir about being a former model ("Falling Off the Catwalk" by Spunky Books), I consider myself a tough critic. But Bruce Hulse really pulled through in his memoir, "Love, Sex, and Fashion." I was particularly impressed with his ability to communicate his spiritual path within what one might think was the antithesis of a spiritual setting--three decades of the fashion and modeling industry. Bruce not only captured an outstanding discussion of his own struggles and successes within this context, but did so in a fashion that was not preachy, condescending, or judgmental. In fact, Bruce's tone was always humble and very kind. Having worked in the industry myself for five years, I found it incredibly admirable how generous and graceful he was in defining some personalities that I found challenging to say the least--of course Bruce was fortunate to also have met some truly inspiring and outstanding people, of whom he admirably described and gave generous credit. Bruce consistently reviewed all his relationships with empathy, understanding, grace, and, indeed love. Equally pleasing was that he was and seemingly is capable of looking at even the most difficult and daunting situations with a sense of humor and compassion. Therefore, perhaps most satisfying of all, I found myself reliving parallel experiences to his with a newfound and more optimistic point of view. Believing, like he does, that we all have our own paths, it was incredibly refreshing to see how he applied (or tried to apply) good intent to all of his actions (sometimes failing, yet rising to forgive himself just as eloquently as he so generously forgives others). Indeed, Bruce has much to be proud of: not only in putting so much of his own personal history into such beautiful expression, but in his respectful approach to recording (some very spicy) sexual situations with women, his ability to allow us to see our sexuality as a wonderful, yet responsible blessing, and in his over-riding discussion and expression of the most powerful of all emotions--love. Congratulations Bruce--you've contributed to my own pride in having been a model, because, like you, I believe beauty need never be only skin deep.

I picked this book up because the title sounded so catchy..the cover was a definite attention grabber...as if one was looking inside all the windows of Bruce's photos..so I bought it...I felt as if I was a passenger along for the ride...with Bruce being the guide..he took me to the beach at Avalon N.J....the sidewalks of New York....to Miami and beyond...Bruce's many romances have got to be legendary...As I was reading the book..I was wondering "How long can he keep this up"? We get our answer towards the end...and it's a good one!:) I loved this book and am glad Bruce shared his life in print...I highly recommend this book!

How does a boy who loved all sports, graduated from Cornell Uni.,and was an Avalon New Jersey lifeguard until he was 25 end up becoming a fashion icon? Read my brother Bruce Hulse's book; Sex Love and Fashion if you have ever entertained any ideas of becoming a fashion model or follow the changing trends of the fashion industry. It's hard to be objective about a family member's new hairstyle, taste in fashion,or childrearing techniques;but a memroire? The account is accurate and the book includes Bruces'search to blend the mind, body and soul while working in the fickle world of modeling.
A MUST READ!!!

I thoroughly enjoyed Bruce's depiction of his modeling career from his humble beginnings along the trajectory to super star status in the modeling business. Bruce's detailed account of his travails in the modeling industry have helped shed light on the inner-workings of one of the world's most attractive and poorly-understood businesses. In the days before movie stars became corporate shills and elbowed out models in seemingly every clothing campaign, perfume ad and magazine cover today, Bruce stood out as a God among Men in the Golden Era of fashion. From his salacious encounters with the world's most beautiful women to the glitzy photo shoots around the world and most tellingly to his inner soul searching, the reader is taken on an exciting autobiographical journey that they'll never forget. In my opinion, for anyone who wants to know what it's like to be a successful model from the ground floor up - a definite must read. Sandor Johnson, New York

I loved every minute of this delicious book. It was like eating candy, just yummy. Sheer fun. I always knew there was a lot more to Bruce than a gorgeous man, and a wonderful father. Thanks for permitting us such an intimate look.
