I have always enjoyed other books by Jekel about the South. Her last book was about the Seminole Indians and was also quite good. This book, "She Who Hears the Sun" is about the Navajo people. It is a saga book, somewhat like James Michener, however, this book focuses on women. The main character is a woman, sure, there are men, but it's a story told from a female perspective. As far as the Navajo facts, I am an anthropologist and speak the Navajo language. This book is wonderfully researched without coming across like a textbook. Two thumbs way way up.
