It has a few free plans for some very basic structures. The plan consists of framing drawings and a material list as well as numbered instructions such as 1. Pour the slab 2. Frame the walls 3. Raise the walls 4. Frame the roof 5. Apply the roofing 6. Add the siding 7. Apply the trim. Each of those numbered instructions correspond to the chapters in the beginning of the book on site planning, foundations,framing walls and creating rough openings, applying siding, applying trim, etc. It's laid out very smartly. It offers opportunities for practice for the inexperienced builder and is an excellent idea to try one of the free plans before buying one of the larger plans. It is ultimately a catalog of plans and a primer for those which to build from a plan.

I loved this book!!! Not only did you see ideas on how to decorate but if you wanted to, "bulid it yourself", then it gave you step by step and tools as well as land lay out you needed. Also gave you garage/loft plans to choose from. Again loved it!!

This book has an abundance of helpful information for the novice carpenter. Lots of good building designs also. Very good reference and learning book.

We have found this book to be extremely helpful so far. Has easy to read instructions with pictures to show exactly how to do things. My husband stated that this was the best book he has seen so far.
Excellent "how-to" book

This book covers all aspects of building structures, including planning, site prep, roofing, siding, tools, etc. Lots of well-drawn pictures and diagrams make for a clear understanding. The book doesn't include any plans, but has a section in the back where you can send away for any of 33 plans for a small fee. All-in-all a good reference, especially in conjunction with other books.
