This book is set in Victorian Times in the small seaside village of Culvergate in England. It concerns a group of shopkepers who rely on the busy Summer Tourist Trade to see them through the colder months ahead. The reader is introduced to a whole host of characters and my favourite would have to be Hetty Wilson, the young widowed mother of two small girls who bravely faces the world and the problems that come with it.If you are ever overwhelmed by the complexities of modern life in the 21st Century then I suggest you escape for while into this book where delights could be found in the smallest of things. This book is a gem from a very talented author who takes the reader on a journey to a place and time where life was a lot simpler than it is today and people were more content with what they did have rather than be concerned about what they didn't.
