Sicily: the perfect walking destination

Thanks to this book you can plan your perfect walking holiday. We visited this island three times each time taking this book with us. In the first time we based ourselves in the medieval town of Erice from where we had access for the following walks: Zingaro Nature Reserve, the Castellaccio on Pizzo del Corvo walk, the temple of Segesta walk, and Monte Iato walk. We also followed most of the ` Palermo and Western Sicily ' car tour. The Zingaro Nature Reserve walk offers the walker the opportunity to see plants and birds that are native to Sicily . In the second time we did most of the Mount Etna walks. These walks take the walker through varied climatic zones, each with its own distinctive vegetation. In the third time we based ourselves in Siracusa, where we followed `The Iblei mountains and the Southeast' car tour. The best part was the Pantalica walk. This walk explores the area around Sicily's most important Bronze Age settlement, numerous cave-tombs in the limestone, the necropolis itself and a 'village' of cave dwellings before passing through the Anapo Valley, characterised by orchards, willows and plane trees. We also did the Noto Antica and Ragusa walks. A truly indispensable guide book.
