Michael Wells uses his inspiration from God to help the reader understand that God doesn't just want daily life, he wants us to expect abundant life where Jesus is working daily. It is a motivation not to live on the momentum of past events, rather to live in the abundance of grace we are given through the death and resurrection of Jesus. I recommend this book to those that may be "sidetracked" or consider themselves on the path.

Challenging ordinary people to live extraordinary lives
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 18 years ago
In "Sidetracked in the Wilderness" Michael Well challenges many of the shallow ways of thinking in our current societal morass. He advocates taking responsibility for our actions and then living in the joy and challenge of what comes. We don't know the future and can't control it, but we can trust God, if we will. Michael repeatedly addresses situations where people are hurting and shows them a way up. In a chapter that focuses on theological issues he focuses on the KEY issue; "How will this help me live more like Jesus?" If it won't, then he does not worry about it. His comment is that the gospel is to be lived, not always understood. If we approach the Bible to understand it, then we miss much of the sacredness of the relationship with God. I highly recommend this book for anyone who is struggling with defeat.
"Living" the Christian Life
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 22 years ago
I've been a Christian for over 25 years and this text is the most effective piece I've ever read on the subject of living the Christian Life. In our goal oriented society, the pressure to perform is more than God requires. Michael Wells explains in very human terms our responsiblity is to abide in him and God's responsiblity is to grow the fruit. God has made revolutionary changes in my faith and behavior as a result of me understanding the contents in this book written by Michael Wells. This book is a little known gem. You would be wise to take it to heart.
This is the most amazing and freeing book I've ever read

How often is the Christian life a series of highs and lows? How often are we continually working to experience feelings of God's acceptance? This book showed me that our acceptance by God is not related to how we are feeling It has nothing to do with who we are and Everything to do with who he is!! I Love this book, It has helped me understand so much. It is great to give copies away as gifts.
