Imagine driving down a highway and seeing two exit signs. One says "Overachievers" and the other, "Underachievers." Which would you follow? Amy Hill photographs the universal highway sign, then... This description may be from another edition of this product.
This book is composed entirely of digitally altered photos of freeway signs, depicting different offramps one can take through life. Rather than deciding to exit at either 3rd Street or 5th Street, suddenly one must choose between the turnoffs for "Nose Fixed," "Hair Replaced," or "Breasts Enlarged." (This is, of course, only if you've just missed the "Resigned to Body Flaws" exit.) These are mainly funny because the digital enhancements are done PERFECTLY. They look exactly like something you'd drive past with scarecely a second glance. We first spotted these images as postcards a few years ago, then bemoaned the fact we couldn't find them anymore. The four-star rating is mainly because I think they worked better as postcards. They're really hilarious as one-shot items sent to friends. In contrast, when published one after another, the device wears a little thin by the end. Still, overall it's a very funny compilation at an inexpensive price.
