Simon's Revenge is historical fiction/dark comedy, depicting the people and events in a small town in Vermont from its founding in 1600 to the year 2000. The town has no stable economic base and exists largely on subsistence agriculture and government handouts. Because of the chauvinism and xenophobia of the many nationalities that founded the town, things do not go well from the beginning and get worse with each passing year. Through the years, the town suffers numerous civic, social, and economic problems, including murder, arson, fraud, suicide, natural disasters, and a fatal raid by the FBI. Although isolated physically, radio, television, and the Internet cause the town to struggle with Women's Liberation, Gay Pride, male chauvinism, racism, and environmental problems, often with outrageous results. Many of the problems are self-induced, but no remedies are found, and the town continues to wallow on the edges of drama, dark comedy, chaos, and conflict.
