Believers in the West are understanding more about Christians struggling in other parts of the world. However, many of the accounts of the persecuted church are missing an important part of the story--the women. In this stirring book, Anneke Companjen sheds light on the lives of eleven women suffering persecution in nine different countries around the world. Through their true stories of imprisonment, full of loss and pain, and unexpected joy, these women inspire Western readers to persevere and endure their own hardships for the cause of Christ. At the end of each chapter there are questions for deeper study, whether for individual use or as a guide for small groups seeking to understand and pray for our persecuted sisters. Readers will be deeply moved by the strength and faith of these courageous women.
Peace This book really convicted me as a believer about how lax and sometimes insincere my walk is with our Lord. Theses women go against ALL odds to worship him and at times I struggle to read one of my many Bibles. This is a wake up call!
Every Christian Woman should read this book

This is an amazing, uplifting book. If this doesn't help you realize God's amazing grace that multiplies in time of need, nothing will. It is also helpful in giving a fresh perspective on your own trials and troubles, which are often minor compared to what these women have endured. It was very inspiring!

This book is a window into the worlds of women in cultures that persecute the church and how they have dealt with different hardships. The stories are inspiring, make me appreciate my freedom, and encourage me to take more risks for God. As group of women, we are reading this together and the book contains questions at the end of chapters that help us to go deeper into what we believe and are challenged by.
