Sisters take on many varied roles throughout one another's lives: best friends, caregivers, keepers of each other's deepest secrets. Sisters depend on one another in different ways at different times perhaps as protectors when they are young, confidantes as they mature, listening ears during the early years of adulthood and marriage, and supporters at the birth of a child or the death of a loved one. Sisters: 100 Ways They Bless Our Lives was written and illustrated by creators of the New York Times best-selling Why a Daughter Needs a Dad in gratitude for the contributions sisters have made to their lives. This might happen at a tea party or at an afternoon of dress up for two young sisters. As they grow older, it might be cooking a family meal together, sewing a family quilt, or enjoying a few minutes together over a quiet cup of coffee. It might also have be in a long, leisurely walk as they reflect on the many blessed moments they have shared.
Sisters of all ages, religions, races, makes this a book that most sisters would love, regardless of age.
Sweet, with charming pictures

I was curious about this book, in part, because I never had (or was) a sister. So, the whole phenomenon of sisterhood is a bit of a mystery to me. I now think it's a mystery, but a happy one, even to the people inside of it. Most two-page spreads follow the same pattern: a happy B & W picture on the right, and a few (maybe just one) one-sentence descriptions on the right. The pictures cover every age from toddlers to grannies, including some really cute kids. The descriptions vary, but always have a happy tone: "Sisters ... can have fun doing nothing, ... enjoy a little competition once in a while ... help each other look their best." It's lightweight, cute fun. For some, the cuteness will cloy; they won't rate this book very highly. I expect that others will find passages that have personal meaning. In that case, go ahead and enjoy. -- wiredweird, reviewing a complimentary copy
