Sketches of Italy is a book of drawings by an artist more known for his paintings. The drawings are from a tour of three major cities in Italy. The sketches were made sometimes in art museums, sometimes in churches, sometimes on the streets. Moore uses a variety of drawing styles, in ink or graphite, keeping the whole collection lively and intriguing. And it's sprinkled with bits of prose, brief reflections or an entertaining dose of dry wit. Two paintings adorn the covers, each originally from the sketches.
