Faced with a struggling practice, a pregnant wife, and a sister in trouble, Robert Principe realizes the white-collar world isn't as easy as he thought. He needs money. Fast. Desperate, he approaches his wiseguy cousin Jackie with an insurance scheme -- a way for the Mob to collect from guys who owe but can't pay, and a chance for Robert to use his law degree to make a few quick bucks when he needs it most. Robert thinks it will be a one-time thing. It isn't. The scheme works well -- too well. The money flows, the violence escalates, and Robert soon learns that getting out of a deal with the Mafia isn't exactly easy . . . especially when the FBI is onto you.
This is a fun, fast read. I read this in 2 sittings and could not wait to find out what happened. Nick Santora writes with a lot of humor and heart. He takes you on a fun ride where you care about the people he writes about. Definitely pick this book up - you won't be able to put it down!
Amazing Debut from great writer!!

This book falls in line with other Attorney based books similiar to Rosenfelt et al, with the suspense, humor and characters which make this a stunning debut from a writer who has done work with the Soprano's, Prison Break amongst other great top shows on TV. I recommend this to those who enjoy character driven titles involving the law and also those who like a little MOB influence of which this title has both. P I even sent a note to the author of which he/and or his publicist responded twice to my emails. Hopefully sales are good on this for I hope for additional titles regarding the characters introduced in this novel and or genre.

FAST PACED, IT TOOK ME ON A WILD RIDE ONCE I GOT INTO THE "CLOWN CAR" TO THE VERY END. NICK SANTORA'S WITTY SENSE OF HUMOR AND EXCELLENT DISCRIPTIVE WRITING MADE IT A REAL PAGE TURNER. I FOUND MYSELF ROOTING FOR ROB, WHO DEEP DOWN WAS A GOOD & LOVING MAN TO HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS, TO SOMEHOW GET OUT OF THAT DARK CORNER HE BACKED HIMSELF INTO. I THOROUGHLY ENJOYED THIS BOOK. NICK SANTORA'S FIRST NOVEL IS DEFINETLY WORTH THE TIME!
Great read!

I really enjoyed reading this book. The story is sooo intense you just can't drop the book until it ends. What I liked the most was that special juicy style of writing and the humorous way of describing people and events in the otherwise sad and cruel story. I also found somehow sweet and touching, that Robert sees these people, who do real bad and cruel things, vurnerable as all of us are.
excellent summer read

Nick Santora gave up the practice of law to pursue his lifelong dream of writing. And it is a good thing he did. He is currently the executive producer and writer of the hit TV series, Prison Break. Slip and Fall is his first novel. Robert Principe is a lawyer. He is also the apple of his father's eye, the toast of the family and the envy of the neighborhood. Robert is the good Italian-American, hard-working, smart, and honest. What his family and friends do not know is that Robert's law firm and life are circling the drain. Out of desperation, he comes up with "the plan". Enter Lou Turro and Jackie Masella, the other side of the Italian-American coin--The Mob. They help Robert execute his plan. The plan is a success. Lou is a little richer and Jackie has gained some respect from Lou. Robert's financial stresses have eased and his business is picking up. His life seems to have taken a turn for the better. But Robert's not aware of what's happening behind the scenes and that lack of knowledge may get him and his family killed. If you think this book is all drama and angst, forget it. This is the perfect book for summer reading. Just kick back and enjoy the thrill ride. There is no moral here, just a good story about likeable people. Nick Santora has infused his work with a great sense of humor and the characters come across as real, passionate human beings, with the emphasis on human. Hopefully, we'll see some more literature by Mr. Santora; meanwhile we'll just have to enjoy his work on Prison Break.
