A western with a heavy slant of mystery,or more like a Who Dunnit?The yarn takes place in Bender,New Mexico.Don't know if it became a ghost town or if fictional;I couldn't find it in my Atlas.Anyway, a wild town,in the 1880's in the winter.Slocum wakes up, after being out of it,beside a corpse of a Spoiled Dove.Then the fun begins; there are many supects,connections,motives, including everyone from the Madame,the Marshal,the Preacher,the Maid,the Rancher,an Outlaw Gang,and a few more in the process.As someone said,"There,s only two kinds of stories.A Stranger Came to Town or A Man Went on a Journey.This one seems to put the two together and spins a western mystery to boot.You might just need a program to keep all the characters sorted out;but nonetheless a good read.
