John Slocum is having a fine time traveling across Indian Territory, until he's knocked out and robbed of a pocket full of poker winnings, his gun, and his horse. But getting back what's his will pit Slocum against a gang of killers who don't care how they kill, as long as you end up dead.
Slocum had no desire to become a farmer;but he had to set things right.

This episode is pretty typical of the Slocum series.Slocum gets himself involved with a two gals and their brother, who have inherited a hardscrabble farm from their father and mother. They had no farm skills but decided they would try to make a go of it.Well, things start going from bad to worse, the townspeople are anything but friendly, the bank wants to foreclose, people are getting shot, the sheriff wants no part of it all,and vambooses, leaving the town with no law.Monty Turner, and his gang of outlaws has some scores to settle. He is determined to rob the railway so often that it will give up and leave. He plans to take over the town and create his own little empire. And Slocum gets drawn into all this and decides to find out who is doing all the killing and why. It is a fast-paced tale, some interesting characters;but not much in the way of historical conotations and very little in the way of colorful Old West expressions and language.Kind of reminded me of the old B & W Westerns we used to watch in the 50's and 60's;but in book form.
