Entertaining, poignant, and a really fun read. The day after I finished the book, my 9-year old son found it on my bedside table, and he had read the whole thing by the next morning. He loved it too. Now my 7-year old wants his chance.Do yourself a favor and buy this one for the family library. And somebody please tell me if they know of anything else by this author!
Slow,Slow is a great Quick Read

Slow, Slow-Quick, Quick is delightful. It is warm and right on the money. The characters jump off the page and any reader can identify those pangs of early adolecence when everything depended on how the other fellow perceived you, and the world was so new. Though the book deals with very common issue, like the first kiss, first real look at human sexuality, and the first date, it manages those early experiences realistically and not with sentimentality for the sake of sentimentality. I especially liked the prom dance when Jimmy Merritt meets his best girl friend and finds that she's been accosted by his best friend. Also, the episode about hunting with BB guns as Jimmy is revolted by the blood thirsty, wasteful notions of his older friend Baxter. One sees that early impressions shape an individual's outlook. Jimmy is a great role model. This little novel is wonderful to read with young people. Parents should read it with their kids because it will lead to personal stories and points of view that might not otherwise arise. Parents reading with kids is always a great way to spend quality time. I highly recommend this book.
