A biography of Chicago's Smashing Pumpkins, who have quickly slid into the spotlight once occupied by Nirvana. Contrasting their trademark wall of sound and bone-crunching riffs against frail emotive vocals and serene melodies, the Pumpkins have emerged to intrigue metal heads, punks and pop listeners alike.

I thought that even though this book is not that much of what a hard core pumpkins fan like me would like to find some day, It was actually one of the most informational books on the Pumpkins that I have ever read! All of you Pumpkin Fans like me, who crave every bit of imfo that they can get, will not onlyread stuff you already did know, but you will also read stuff they didnt know. Overall the best part of this book is the GREAT PICTURES!!

I think that anyone who loves the Smashing Pumpkins, or knows someone who does would enjoy this book. It tells all about the history of the Smashing Pumpkins and is very accurate. It gives very detailed information about how and when the band was started, and goes until the recording on Mellon Collie, and the death of Jonathan Melvoin, their touring keyboardist. I enjoyed reading the book alot. I though it was very interesting.

Since this book was updated in 1996 it is in my opinion a must have for all Pumpkin fanatics. It has great photographs. It takes you from the beginning of the band to after Billy, D'arcy, and James had to fire Jimmy. To put it simply- This book kicks ass.
Loved it loved it loved it!!

I think Nick Wise did an excellent job on the book. He really knows how to give a reader what they want. I read this before I was a true fan-atic, and I learned a lot of stuff I never knew. I have another book on them written by some other dude, and it does not even compare!!! Pumpkin pride 4 life...trulio!
