A Beautiful Book

This is the best of Fox's books so far. It has the twin forms of both a modern erotic novel and an old Norse myth, and these two strands are honeyed together to create an excellent work of literary erotica. It reminded me of a David Lynch film or a particularly stirring fairy tale, both with its surreality and its creepiness, as well as the more obvious charms of its erotic pull. The main character and "Snow Blonde" of the title, Lilli, is well developed and one of the most sensual heroines I've ever come across. I was deeply affected, both on an emotional and physical level - one of those novels that haunts you for days afterwards, and you welcome every recollection.
