I read this prior to a trip to the catskills this winter. It was extremely helpful in assisting me in choosing the places to go and enjoy the snow and mountains in the solitude of the land. The descriptions are very accurate. I look forward to next season and expanding its use.

This book was everything I had hope for and more. Gives great descriptions of the trails and surroundings, including degree of difficuly, distance of the trails,time, directions and my personal favorite, Views! I love taking photographs on my hikes,so the fact that this book describes the views and scenic possiblities on each hike was a really bonus for me.

Very accurate descriptions, nice book. You also need a map to be safe, and once you are on the track, you no longer need the book really, but it's a good way to select trails before setting off.
