In a sleepy sleepy house everything is so sleepy - until music drifts in through an open window. Chairs begin to rock, dishes begin to dance, and a sleepy boy opens his eyes to the revelry of the once-sleepy house. Then, softly, the music drifts out, and everything is sleepy sleepy once more. With his soothing text and gentle, whimsical illustrations, Uri Shulevitz has created the ultimate sleepy sleepy bedtime story. So Sleepy Story is a 2006 New York Times Book Review Best Illustrated Book of the Year.
A lovely book for very young children. Vivid, clear pictures which create a calm mood. You go in and out of the story with the child very smoothly.
It makes ME yawn everytime I read it!

My baby (20 months) loves this book and it's always in active rotation. He likes looking at the little details in the pictures (the cat, the train, the moon). And the number of times you say "sleepy" literally makes you sleepy!
Fantastic art and story

This is a bedtime book my almost-2-year-old daughter loves and what's more I continue to love despite many, many readings of it. The pictures are so detailed and expressive and the story so simple yet compelling that it never gets boring.
Great bedtime book

I saw this book featured in Time and searched for it here and read the excerpt -- and I knew I just had to get it for my 20 month old son. We love reading it before bedtime, and the hypnotic cadence of the text calms him until he's sleepy. I read it in a sleepy voice and get sleepy myself!
Lovely

This book is charming without being condescending. The illustrations perfectly evoke the peace that can be found in the night, as well as the impish character of Alice in Wonderland, where clocks have faces and tea cups make music. There is wonder in the simplest of things! What a lovely book!
