Soul Matters For The Heart

I bought this book and my friend who is from Louisianna fell in love with it, she was staying with us while hurricane Katrina was tearing up their city. She took great comfort in the book so I gave it to her and bought several more for gifts. I love books with short stories about life, it's a very positive upbeat book and helps you see things in a different light. It's full of good humor and good advice.

The first thing to catch my eye was the soft green color, raised, shiny lettering, and high quality packaging. This is simply a beautiful book to hold in your hands! Inside, there are comforting Bible promises, inspirational quotes, prayers, questions to think about, action steps, and real-life stories written by dozens of skilled authors. How can you not be stirred when you read stories from others who experience common life issues such as fear, reconciliation, disappointment, forgivness, hope, life's storms, financial worries, and showing gratitude? Written in snippets, it's an easy book to thumb through and grab a nugget or take it slower by using as a daily meditation guide. Soul Matters for the Heart is useful for individuals or discussion groups. Next time I'm asked to give a brief devotional, I might share one of the thought-provoking pieces from this book. As one of the contributing authors, I'm proud to be part of this Soul Matters series. Even if I didn't have a contribution, I'd buy it for the beauty, wisdom, and practicality. This book is not intended to compete with the C.S. Lewis' or Philip Yanceys. However, it is extremely well written and contains many surpising jems. It's not just another cute book to make a quick sell. The stories and topics within have depth. Soul Matters is a good little book to kick off a Bible study or discussion group-possibly a book to buy in bulk to give out to groups.
