Fabulous ideas; great for kids who have "nothing to write about."

I loved using this book with Middle Schoolers! So many great topic ideas, and many of them were topics that pertained to subjects being discussed and studied in their other classes. These are also wonderful for "sparking" some great classroom discussions. Here are a couple great examples: An epitaph is a sometimes humorous saying or poem engraved on a headstone. (Example given.) What epitaph would you want on your headstone? Would it be funny? Sweet? Serious? Why? Write a draft. Dr. M. L. King was a pacifist and believed that hatred and prejudice could be fought with love. Do you agree with him? Do you think that in all situations a peaceful response in the correct one? Why? Support your statements! (Quote from MLK given.) Where do you see yourself five years from now? What are you doing? Where are you living? School? Activities? Job? These are just a few of the great examples. Many of these could be taken and adapted for younger kids, or older kids, too.
