Reviewing Spelling Curriculum

After seeing these two ladies at the International Reading Association convention in May 2000, I immediately bought the book. I took it back to my school district where I am a language arts consultant. We have used the book as the basis for a year long pilot program in improving spelling in our school. Our current curriculum is based on the 4 block model. The methodolgy in this book expands and enriches the basic model by Pat Cunningham...especially in grades 3-5+. We are already very excited by the results, and will most likely adopt the new stragegies and techniques into our existing curriculum for next year. It even has an appendix that has ways to respond to parents about the change in how you teach! I highly recommend it to any teacher that wants to improve word work in their classroom. You will be amazed at how well this integrates into all area of your language arts instruction.
