A stitch in time...

When a Stargate malfunction throws Colonel Cameron Mitchell, Dr. Daniel Jackson, Colonel Sam Carter and Teal'c back in time, they only have minutes to live.

But their rescue, by an unlikely duo-General Jack O'Neill and Vala Mal Doran-is only the beginning of their problems. Ordered to rescue an Asgard also marooned in 1947, SG-1 find themselves at the mercy of history.

While Jack, Daniel, Sam and Teal'c become embroiled in the Roswell aliens conspiracy, Cam and Vala are stranded in another timeline, desperately searching for a way home. As the effects of their interference ripple through time, the consequences for the future are catastrophic.

Trapped in the past, SG-1 can only watch as their world is overrun by a terrible invader...

Roswell

"You." The lieutenant's nightstick swung around in an arc. He stabbed it in Daniel and Jack's direction as he approached them.

"Who? Us?" Jack said, adopting a well-practiced expression of cluelessness that worked so rarely, Daniel wondered why he bothered to try it on anyone.

"Names "

Jack smiled disarmingly. "Ah...names. Mulder and Scully."

"Where do you live?"

"Colorado," Daniel replied, before Jack could get too carried away. "We're just passing through town, lieutenant."

"Where ya headed?"

"New York," Daniel said without thinking.

"Kinda taking the scenic route, ain't, ya?"

"But there's so much to see," Jack said. "Little green men, and flying saucers... Oh, and arresting innocent citizens eating in a diner."

"Jack " Daniel hissed in warning, but it was too late. The damage was done.

The MP's eyes narrowed dangerously. "Wise guy, huh?" The lieutenant grabbed Jack by the arm. "Outside. The both of you. You're coming, too."

Absolutely Wonderful

Absolutely amazing book. PERFECT characterizations, highly engaging plot, interesting ideas. It really feels like SG-1, with humor and peril spread all through. It's something you wouldn't be surprised to see if you tuned into the show one night, and that's the highest praise I can give it.

SG-1 / Atlantis / BSG Fan

Not a big book reader but this one is really well written and could have made a great episode or movie!

Great Read!

This was the first book I've read based on the Stargate series and it was so good that I couldn't put it down. I read the whole thing in one day. I was already missing the series and this was a balm to Sci-fi canceling the show. I wish that they could have used this for the basis of the continuing movies on dvd but since their doing the Ba'al time tampering movie, I don't think they'll use it. The characters are true to form. Sonny Whitelaw & Jennifer Fallon know their stuff. I can't wait for them to continue thier story arc.

Roswell and the new SG-1

During the time that I had read the stories and seen the past 2 seasons I was wondering when they were going to be bringing in Mitchell and Vala as well as their new enemy. In the case of this story it was good to have the original team together, but at the same time would have good to have the two members of the their team there as well. I thought that this was a good one since it was pretty cool that they brought up the Goa'uld that had taken control of Vala and their second run-in with both Ra and the Asgard Loki. All in all, this was a pretty cool story and I recommend this to any who like the series.

Complex Yet Fun

Roswell begins with SG-1, sans Vala, fleeing the Ori and disappearing through the Gate. General Jack O'Neil is covering the base while Landry is out on leave. When they get a visit from a future Samantha Carter, she informs present Jack that his SG-1 team is stranded in the past. Jack and Vala leave in a puddle jumper to go back in time and rescue the team. But complications arise which end up altering the timeline. My one complaint is that all the jumping around in time was a bit confusing, especially how they went about it. But then, I usually tune-out the technical jargon when watching the show anyway. So I just skimmed the time travel use of the Stargate sections of the book. But the characters were right on. Vala was her normal chipper and witty self. She has quickly become a favorite character of mine. The dialog was well-written, and it's obvious that a lot of research went into the making of this book. Humor is laced throughout the story, with plenty of action and suspense. This would have made a great episode. But I'm glad the show is at least living on through the novels, while we wait for the upcoming direct-to-dvd movies. Whitelaw and Fallon did a wonderful job of co-writing this short novel. I'll be interested in reading more of both of their work.
