Having taught introductory statistics for over six years, one of the best texts I've used is Weinberg and Goldberg's "Statistics for the Behavioral Sciences". Students have found the book easy to understand without a feeling of condescension. I like the order of material presentation as well as the format used for the various distribution tables. Definitely a text to provide a solid statistical foundation for the first-time stats student or a good refresher for others. Although I've seen and used more recent texts, I come back to this one.
