excellent resource for parents and professionals

I highly recommend this book for both African American parents and professionals who work with African American families. It's co-written by two mental health professionals and a parent, so different viewpoints are incorporated. It's an interesting read, and it provides some practical parenting strategies for raising healthy, happy children with strong African American identities. It also grapples with tough issues like the pros and cons of spanking, and preparing kids to deal with the racism they encounter.
